Its All Happening Here...Come-Play-Eat & Stay

May 26, 2016

Its that time of year when once again, Prince Rupert has it ‘all going on’….from festivals, to concerts, art shows to boat trips – Prince Rupert is where you will want to come, play, eat and stay. And here are just a few of the entertainment choices this spring –

Starting May 28th the 5th Annual Charity Golf Scramble will take place. Try swinging your club to win the $10,000 cash prize or how about the Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glyde valued at $20,000. Or, if you prefer to learn about local culture, the 4th Annual Salmon Festival also happens on May 28th. Here you will be able to watch your host dancers and drummers perform and sample traditional coastal foods all in celebration of the arrival of the salmon runs.

The following month on June 4th the community of Dodge Cove sets up for their Island Art Show. Board the MV ‘Inside Passage’ for a boat ride across the harbor and spend the afternoon in this artisan community enjoying the art show and perhaps a tranquil walk along the beach or seaside trails.

Sunday, June 5th, marks the 26th Annual ‘Sweet Serenade’ Coffee & Dessert Concert. This year the CHHS choir and jazz band along with the Community Choir will bring you back through the decades with tunes like Bill Withers ‘Lean on Me’; Irving Mills ‘Moon Glow’ or Oscar Hammerstein’s ‘All the Things You are’ …just to name a few. The event is renowned for serving up an unimaginable array of decadent homemade pastries and desserts to indulge in during the 2 hour show.

Then, on June 10th, Prince Rupert’s will host its annual Seafest event – The theme this year is ‘Gumboots & Raindrops’. Plan to kick off the weekend on Friday night with the outdoor concert ‘Music at Mariners’ and continue to enjoy this full-on weekend until the closing ceremonies back at Mariner’s Park on Sunday evening.

And, make sure you circle Saturday, June 18th, on your calendar when our local team of cyclist from ‘Ride to Conquer Cancer’ hosts their Spaghetti Western Dinner & Dance. Put on your best ‘checked shirt and join the team for some great food, great entertainment at the auction tables and a little ‘boot-scootin boogie’ as the popular local band‘The Surfer Dudes’ play into the night.
