Prince Rupert's Line-Up of Entertainment ....2017!

2017 is shaping up to be a year jam-packed with entertainment. From the Sugar Shack Festival in early January right through to this year's 32nd Annual Sail Past, the line-up of popular events is bound to keep you hopping. Here's just a 'sneak-peek' of some of what Prince Rupert has to offer up when you visit us.

  1. March 4, 2017: will kick off the 26th Annual Children's Festival. With this year's motto 'Growing Together', this day-long event is filled with imaginative and inventive activities and story-telling that is bound to delight children and parents.

  3. March 10, 2017: the Prince Rupert Arts Council is hosting a weekend bonanza of creativity! Creative Jam 2017 boasts chock-a-block full weekend that will not disappoint. Participants can delve into the arts of their choice and be guided through a learning process tht includes writing skills, stand-up comedy, gospel singing, photography......and so much more.

  1. May 7 - 13, 2017: the BC Annual Dance Competition takes place at the Lester Center for the Arts. This celebrated week-long dance competition, recognized around the work, bring some of Canada's finest and brightest talent to our stage.

  3. June 3, 2017: you are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Digby Island Art Show. Indulge in this unique afternoon art show which takes place at the Dodge Cover Community Center. The collection of works by local Dodge Cove artists features magnificent jewelry, masterful water and oil paintings, mosaics, renowned handmade quilts and needlework, live music, exceptional foods...

June 4, 2017: mark your calendars for this year's 'Sweet Serenade Coffee & Dessert Concert' This is an evening event with great musical entertainment and an astounding array of luscious desserts. The Prince Rupert Rotary Choir, led by Peter Witherly, will offer up a diverse selection of songs from Broadway classics like 'Fiddler on the Roof' to oldies from Cole Porter or more recent works like Bill Withers' Lean on Me from the 1960s. This show also features a sampling of some of the best musical talent from your local high school.

  7. June 9-12, 2017: marks the 29th Annual Seafest Weekend - theme this year is 'Red & White-150 Done Right!' This local favorite is one of Prince Rupert's best and is a time when many Rupertites return home to reunite with old friends and celebrate weekend. The collage of activities, exceptional food booth and fun competitions throughout this 3-day event comes to a close Sunday evening in the spectacular Mariner's Park.

  9. July 1, 2017: Canada Day - 150th Birthday Party. As always the focus is on family entertainment and it all happens in Mariner's Park. This family day celebrates many of Prince Rupert's most celebrated musical talents as they showcase their talents throughout the day while families enjoy organized events for all age groups and ..there is always the BIG Birthday Cake...and at dusk the grand finale fireworks.

  11. November 6-9, 2017: is the 42nd Annual Kaien Island Craft Fair. This highly recognized fair boasts the work of artisans from Telkwa to Dodge Cove an fills the community center with a spectacular exhibition of the 'best of the best'. With up to 104 separate presentations, you will not want to miss this remarkable expansive fair.

  13. December 1-2, 2017: the Special Events Society hosts the 22nd Annual Winterfest. Friday night joint the Rotary Choir and the school choirs to sing Christmas carols, sip on hot chocolate and watch the Festival of Lights. The following day boats Breakfast with Santa and the Santa Claus Parade as well as the annual afternoon live musical performance at the Lester Center for the Arts. That evening enjoy the bonfire at the harbor front and watch the 39th Annual Sail Past and fireworks.

  15. December 3, 2017: Prince Rupert Rotary Choir & Community Band will definitely get you into the Christmas spirit when they host their Annual Winter Song. This seasonal event puts the finishing touches on a memorable weekend as the choir and band perform for you in the beautiful 'old world charm' of the First United Church.

  17. .....and on top of all that, you will definitely want to check out the plentiful performances occurring throughout every month at venues like the Lester Center for the Arts; this year celebrating their 30th birthday. Throughout the years the center has showcased phenomenal memorable shows and this year will not disappoint!
